Some of you may be wondering what’s up with all the llamas. When I
was studying abroad in Peru my senior year of college I got a tattoo of a llama
on my right shoulder blade. I chose that location because it is very easy to
hide if I want it to be hidden and because when I move my shoulder he dances.
His name is Lyle.
There were several reasons for this tattoo and while it may seem
random or impulsive, it was neither of those things. I thought about it for
months, even drew it myself (It’s the llama from the poison bottle in Emperor’s
New Groove, one of my all-time favorite movies), and because I’m a goodie
goodie I even called and asked for my parents permission before going through with
it. Since then I have been gifted a few llama stuffed animals or other knick
knack items. When I started at Hills my co-workers found out about my tattoo
and became more obsessed with my obsession than I was. Now I have more llama
things than I ever imagined and I think it’s pretty obvious that I’ll be a Mama
Llama because of the below:
I identify with elephants as a part of my fertility journey, but
llamas are my spirit animal.
I’ve decided the nursery will be llama themed. There will probably
be lots of pink and lots of llama books and stuffed animals. You literally
cannot walk through a HomeGoods, TJMaxx or Hobby Lobby without seeing shelves
of llama décor. I just want everyone to know, for the record, that I liked
llamas before they were cool.
Also, feel free to buy me all the llama things you encounter.
And if you want to read more on why I got a llama tattoo there are
8 reasons waiting for you in a post from 7 years ago titled “Old News, New Me”.
