Three weeks until I fly. Where has the summer gone? I have not thought about packing or host gifts or what communication will be like when I get there. It dawned on me today while I was reading the Peru Handbook that I will have a new family in just 3 weeks. I hope they like me. Nothing about studying abroad is familiar to me. It is all new. It is all scary. And I am NOT ready. Perhaps in 3 weeks I will feel differently.
You are going to do just fine! How could your new family NOT like you? Remember when you had foreign students stay with you? (Ivy and Gianni, if I remember correctly?) Think about how nervous and scared they must have been, but your family was so welcoming to them and they seemed to really enjoy their time here. This new family WANTS you to stay with them. Remember that they volunteered for this. :) You're like a present to them from their wish list!
